Microsoft Announces Copilot Studio Agents for Power Platform

Microsoft has officially unveiled a major expansion to Copilot Studio, introducing autonomous agents that integrate deeply with the Power Platform ecosystem.

What Are Copilot Studio Agents?

These AI-powered agents go beyond simple chat interactions. They can:

  • Generate complete Power Automate flows from natural language descriptions
  • Create Power Apps screens with proper data bindings automatically
  • Suggest Dataverse schema changes based on business requirements
  • Monitor running flows and propose optimizations

How It Works

Developers and makers describe what they need in plain English, and the agent handles the implementation. For example:

"Create a flow that triggers when a new row is added to the Invoices table, sends an approval to the finance manager, and if approved, updates the status and sends a confirmation email."

The agent generates the complete flow with all connections, error handling, and conditions.

Availability

The feature is rolling out in public preview starting April 2026 for all tenants with Power Platform premium licenses. General availability is expected in Q3 2026.

What This Means for Makers

This significantly lowers the barrier to entry for Power Platform. Business users who previously needed training can now describe their needs and get working solutions.
